Hi again
After I updated my AVG free to the new 7.5xx version, Mozilla Thunderbird throws the following error when I click on Get Mail: "Could not connect to service 127.0.0.1; the connection was refused."
I have checked my firewall, the AVG Free email scanner, Thunderbird account settings and everything is fine, or at least all the settings are the same as they have always been.
I have to setup Thunderbird to use the 127.0.0.1 address so that the AVG email scanner will work. SMTP and POP have different ports, but everything is still setup the same. I set the Thunderbird servers to normal parameters to bypass the AVG scanners and was able to connect and retrieve mail.
I googled the error message, but didn't really get any help. The help forums at AVG and Mozilla were of no help.
This is my last hope.
